| "Dear Dr. Jen, "Dr. Milus, "When I began my formal education in firefighting, I realized that physical
strength and endurance were of equal or greater importance than my classes.
Because it does not matter how smart you are if you're not able to physically
do the job! I knew I needed a personal trainer who not only had professional
experience in certified personal training, but one who also had some first
hand knowledge on However, luck was on my side. When I met Dr. Jen Milus I saw that not only is she in phenomenal shape, but that she has extensive knowledge and experience in both personal training and physical agility tests. I informed Jen that I wanted to get into shape for the long term and also for the CPAT. Lucky for me, Jen knew just what to do! I cannot tell you what a relief it is to walk into a gym and have someone who has your whole routine set up for you - all ready to go. It can be extremely overwhelming to know what you want, but not know how to get there. Her straightforward techniques and her motivational attitude were exactly what I needed.
After a few
months, my CPAT test date had arrived. I felt prepared and excited to
take my test. When I passed the CPAT that day, the first person I
called was Jen. I can honestly say that Jen made all the difference in the
world! Since then, I still train with Jen and fly through other
physical agility tests that come my way. I have had several other
trainers in the past that I left because I felt that they were not only not
worth my money, but not worth my time. My past trainers do not hold a
candle to Dr. Milus' fire!" "I could not have done it without her! Simply working out with traditional exercises didn’t give me the edge I needed for the CPAT. I failed the first time! I had to get sports specific! Once we did, my testing became much easier, and I looked and felt great… oh, and very strong." M. B. "What a wealth of knowledge! I have had other trainers. Her creativity in training and knowledge in other areas (like nutrition and injury prevention) added so much to my efforts!" J. J. "I was getting hurt at work all the time, and she taught me just a few things to prevent those injuries, and it changed me whole outlook! I haven’t hurt myself since. What a relief! Thanks!" T. B. "I tried to do it myself, and I just wasn’t even close to the intensity that Dr. Jen got me up to. Further, the exercises she used were different that others I had seen. Between the 2, it really pushed me over the edge! Oh, and I passed the CPAT" J. R. "Dr.Jen: nice to have an expert on these areas!!! Makes it a lot easier to take info to heart!!!! Thanks! B. D. "I passed the CPAT! I got Dr. Milus’ program and use that to train with and people (usually men) literally stop me at the gym and tell me how impressed they are with how much weight I can lift ( I can leg press six 45 pound plates on each side 12 times!) I follow your program to the letter and I can say I’m in the best shape of my life!" "My workouts are doing fine, your program has been very helpful. I was in decent shape before i got your workouts but now i am in way better shape than i have ever been thanks to your program. I thank you for writing me and following up on my workout improvements, it feels like you really care about how we do." L.G. "I would like to thank you for your great product. I purchased Fire it Up about a year ago to prepare for my CPAT and was thoroughly impressed with the results. Your program has a fantastic sport specific solid foundation with the essentials of "getting the job done" clearly incorporated. As a 5'3" woman the physical hurdles of the exam I know were a little higher for me (no pun intended) and this program made it seem like a breeze. Just while training I've already received compliments and questions regarding my workouts and their effectiveness/intensity from fire personnel and other trainers. I passed the CPAT with plenty of time to spare and have just been offered a job with Fire Department of my choice as a Fire Fighter Recruit. Once I'm done with recruit training I will become one of very few in my state So, I just wanted to extend my gratitude for helping me carve a path for the women showing that it can be done." E.F. I am happy to say that I passed my CPAT last week with 1min and 10 sec to spare. I am fairly small (5’6” 120 pounds), but all of the hard work paid off! Your workout video and cardio plan helped out immensely. Dr. Milus, Hi Dr. Jen, Dr. Jen: I took my CPAT on Monday. I passed with 52 seconds to spare! Thank you for your program. It was perfect in how the exercises were functional. However, I did not even get close to finishing the twelve week program...I had to repeat a lot of weeks. Please let your other clients know to not give up hope just because they aren't flying through the program with ease. Also, I didn't have a stepmill to use during my workouts, so let your other clients know that as well. They need to just find a way to keep up that cardio endurance, and the leg presses will prepare them for the stepmill. I am a 130 lb female and was getting some looks by the other candidates and the proctors prior to the test. The proctors asked me how I did on my practice sessions. I guess judging from my size, they had seen many candidates come and go. Needless to say, they were pleasantly surprised when I finished with time to spare. In one of my practice sessions, I finished with 1:14 to spare, so I was pacing myself to make sure I didn't make any "mental" mistakes. It looks like my investment in your program more than paid off. I can even continue to use it to prepare for their academy and for any future CPATs I might take. Thanks again and THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! M.L. “Wow, Dr. Jen! What a great tool! I was really struggling with how to get ready for the CPAT and my academy. Your program really helped me get ready for both!!! F.G. “Dr. Jen, I really appreciate all your help! The training plan was great, and your prompt answers to my questions were great! I sailed through the CPAT, and was ready when the academy started. Boy- the academy is tough… but I am just about done!!” M.R. "Hey Dr. Jen, So today was my CPAT. I bought your program almost 12 weeks ago, and I followed it for about 2 weeks and then sort of reinvented it based around my needs. Your support in the early stages really helped spur me on during the early parts, and I'm proud to say that today I completed the CPAT with a time of 9:20. Granted, it wasn't stellar, but it got the job done. Combined with my other tests, I'm now #7 on the list for my preferred department and that was the final test I had to take. My job offer and recruit school are all that stand between me and my dream. Although I didn't really follow it as much as its designed, I still think that your advice and groundwork helped me map out my own path to success. Thanks a bunch!" J. "I bought the Fire It Up program probably last October or November. First I just wanted to let you know how much it has helped me gain the strength I need for this job, it's AWESOME!!! S.B. "I just started week two and I really like it! I can already tell a difference in my body as well as my performance. I'm in a Fire I class now, and I can tell that my strength and endurance has already improved. Those hand grippers are awesome - my forearms don't give out first anymore during our fire evolutions as well as during my work outs. And yes, I do stretch after every work out. That's one of the best parts! Thanks again for all you do!" S.G. "Just wanted to say thanks for the information. I injured my R shoulder last fall (not sure exactly how) but put off going to the doc. Big mistake, it kept getting worse (pain). Anyway, I’ve been in P/T now for about a month. Wow, what a difference, but oh the pain…… only in a different ways now and nowhere near as bad at night time as it used to be. I’m glad I found you through google, you answered many of the questions I had about it, that other folks did not. I know this will greatly help my recovery!" J.D.
